Perched on the extreme edge of Gaucin you will find this warm and friendly house. The location is outstanding, boasting magnificent views across the Spanish mountain side and over to Gibraltar and Africa. With tasteful decoration and comfortable rooms you will feel at home in Casa Salvia. Each room enjoys the luxury of the view and complete privacy. Spacious terraces wrap around the house and descend down into larger terraced gardens and the private pool. The natural surroundings are immediate as you approach the house from a narrow winding street leaving Gaucin. The entrance area has large wrought iron gates and is full of wonderful plants and rock gardens, which continue as you walk down the garden steps of this beautiful plot. You can leave your car in the private parking area and probably will not need to use it much more as the house is very conveniently located, with the shops only four minutes walk away. This is a top location and an extremely desirable house.
The front door gives onto a small entrance hall and on the wall opposite there is an exquisite piece of artwork that will capture your imagination when examined carefully. From here you move into the living area with its huge glazed sliding doors giving onto the most splendid terrace with dining area and offering views across the landscape and to the coast. On a clear day you can see forever and ever. There is an open fireplace and plenty of comfortable chairs to while away the days.
A truly well stocked kitchen leads off from the living area. It has a farmhouse feel to it. Some of the chinaware has been handmade by the owners, many decorated with a tree design, a favourite subject of the designer owner. It is equipped with a large oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, double fridge freezer with ice maker, a breakfast table and a dining table. There is also a separate laundry area with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
There are two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, each has its own bathroom and private terrace, spoilt with the fabulous views and privacy. There are ceiling fans in each room for the warmer nights. The master bedroom is on the ground floor beside the living area with a king size bed and beautifully tiled en-suite with bath, shower and separate wc. The second double bedroom has a bath and wc. The twin room has an en-suite with shower and wc and there is a cot available for babies. There is also an independent shower room on the ground floor.
The large terraced garden is stocked with an amazing selection of interesting plants, all carefully nurtured in a very natural way. A gardener’s delight! Below the house is an outside dining terrace for hot days. Sitting under the shade of a jasmine covered pergola is an ideal place for lazy lunches or dinners – or even breakfast. There is also a built in brick barbeque area near to this, perfect for evening outdoors. The terraced areas seem to be never ending as they stretch beyond the house. It certainly is spacious on the outside. You will be drawn also to a separate outside area, the beautiful pool where you can either bask in the sun or sit in the shade of a parasol wondering when it is time to take another swim. All these spots are blessed with the unspoilt view, privacy and fabulous fresh air that passes up from the countryside.
Casa Salvia is located in the village of Gaucin, on the extreme edge enabling it to also enjoy the countryside. There are bars and restaurants within walking distance. There are also plenty of shops with local produce, larger general stores and a pharmacy. Gaucin itself is perfectly situated in the Andalucian Mountains to enjoy both the cultural and historic cities and the buzz and glamour of the coastal towns. The mountains provide a sense of peace with wonderful walks, horse riding and many other cultural activities and art filled pleasures. The coast being so close also allows you to explore and have some fun on the water, take your pick of many Golf courses or indulge in the boutiques and nightlife.
