Casa Oregano is a short picturesque drive approximately two kilometres outside of Gaucin.  Once you reach the gates after driving down the gentle track you immediately feel the calm atmosphere and tranquillity of the mountains.  The superb setting and panoramic scenery is beautiful.  The land is full of fruit trees, almond trees and flowers.  As you enter the house there is a wonderful feeling of tradition with subtle, tasteful furnishings.  There are solid beams in the ceiling and sturdy wooden banisters.  This is a home full of rustic charm and character.  The outside areas are endless.  With plenty of large terraces for relaxing in the warm sun, hiding in the cool shade or playing a few fun games on the lawns.  This farmhouse has so many comforts it feel like home.

Living

The living area is cosy with comfortable sofas placed around the open fire.  The room is delicately decorated in a calming eggshell blue.  The view from here is stunning, with double doors leading out from two sides onto shaded terraces; one with an outside dining table and an exotically decorated day bed with a Moroccan feel.  The living room has a television, plenty of books to read and music to listen to.

Bedrooms

The twin bedroom is located on the ground floor, with an en-suite shower room.  Up the wooden staircase and along separate hallways are two double bedrooms.  The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a large bath and shower head above.  This room is light and spacious with doors opening to the stunning view across the pool and along the mountains to the coast and across the sea to Africa.  Leading off this bedroom is a terrace where you can relax and admire this incredible situation.  The second double bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom.  Windows on all side of the room give it light and warmth and there is a relaxing sitting area in one of the corners.  All the beds are comfortable and attractively made with mosquito nets and air conditioning in the double rooms.

Kitchen

With a beamed high ceiling, log fire, large dining table to seat ten and comfortable chairs this kitchen is ideal and gives onto a fabulous terrace perfect for enjoying a delightful breakfast or a few evening drinks while looking straight out across the view.  The kitchen is fully equipped with two ovens (gas and electric) microwave and dishwasher and all the extras you could possibly need.  There is also a small laundry room next to the kitchen with a washing machine and dryer.  

Outside area

The outside areas surrounding the house provide plenty of choice and comfort to enjoy the sun or shade.  Two terraces are located off the living area, one with a table to enjoy your meals at, together with an inviting day bed, our favourite little spot.  The second shaded terrace off the living room has large outdoor chairs and leads down to a small grassy garden area, safe for children to play.  The kitchen leads out onto another terrace area, un-shaded, with a low table and chairs.  The steps from here lead down to the fabulous pool.  Just standing there staring out across the land gave us a sense of freedom and inspiration for the photography.  The pool glistens in the sun and the comfortable loungers are ideal.  There are more shaded areas surrounding the pool, perfect little spots to enjoy some lunch.  As we walked around the house to see what else could surprise us we found lots of routes leading through the trees and some more steps to a wonderful patch of garden, perfect for some croquet or fun games.

The Casita

A perfect little hideout.  There is a small casita next to the main house but far enough away to feel private.  With it’s own garden and facilities this is perfect for a couple joining the family holiday, maybe grandparents or friends.  With a double bedroom, an en-suite bathroom with shower, small kitchen and living area I would certainly feel comfortable in this adorable casita.  The living area is calm and the rooms are light and spacious.  Double doors open up onto a private terrace and garden area.  It is fully equipped with kitchen essentials, television and music equipment.  What a wonderful addition.  This is only available to guests staying in the main house.  If this not required the doors will be locked.

Extra Details:

Casa Oregano is located in the countryside outside of Gaucin, a ten minute drive from the village of Gaucin.  A car is recommend when booking this villa.   Access to the house is along a private track and parking is available on the grounds.  The village of Gaucin has traditional tapas bars and delightful restaurants.  There are also plenty of shops to be found along the narrow streets with local produce, plus larger general stores and a pharmacy.  

Gaucin is perfectly situated in the Andalucian Mountains to enjoy both the cultural and historic cities and the buzz and glamour of the coastal towns.  The mountains provide a sense of peace with wonderful walks, horse riding and many other cultural activities and art filled pleasures.  The coast being so close also allows you to explore and have some fun on the water, take your pick of many Golf courses or indulge in the boutiques and nightlife.  For more details on Gaucin and the surrounding areas please see the JamPot Villas Explore page or feel free to email.

Travel

Travelling to Gaucin

We recommend you fly into Malaga, approximately 115 km from Gaucin or Gibraltar (a little closer) approximately 58 km .  Check out skyscanner  to compare prices.  You can even fly to Jerez or Seville.  

We do recommend hiring a car while you are out here, the journey from either airport is not hard.  You can take in some of the breathtaking scenery on the way to Gaucin and the Andalucian Mountains.  

Travelling from Malaga and need a car?  Check out Sixt Car Rental.. Travelling from Gibraltar airport?  Walking across the border to Spain is quick and easy and takes you to the town of La Linea.  For car hire check out, Europcar   la Linea.

Prices, Booking and Cancellation Policies

Changeover day is a Saturday.
Arrival is at 4pm unless previously agreed with agent and departure time 11am.
Minimum stay of 1 week.
All linen is provided including beach towels.
For winter letting logs should be paid for locally (€85 per load). 


Booking Policy:

30% deposit will be required on booking.
Final 70% must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to arrival.  If your holiday commences in less than 8 weeks or if the total value of your booking is less than £200.00 / €250.00 full payment will be due when you book.

Once your reservation deposit has been received Jampot Villas will send you a booking confirmation which confirms the contract between you and the owners of the house.  If we do not receive the balance by the date outlined (8 weeks prior to arrival), we reserve the right to cancel your booking and levy the cancellation charges that are set out in the 'Cancellation Policy'.


Cancellation Policy:

If for any reason you need to cancel your booking, you must inform Jampot Villas by telephone and by email.  Your cancellation will be confirmed upon receipt of email.  If receipt of cancellation is received more than 8 weeks prior to the start of your rental date then you will forfeit your deposit.  If received within 8 to 2 weeks before the start of your rental date you will forfeit your deposit plus 40% of the total rental price will be charged.  If received within 2 weeks before the start of your rental date then you will forfeit your deposit plus the remainder 70% will be charged (the full amount is payable).

In the unlikely case that JamPot Villas has to cancel a booking we will notify you immediately and try to offer an alternative. In case of non-acceptance of the alternative by the renter, JamPot Villas will reimburse the renter all payments made and the renter loses any rights other than the reimbursement of payments made.

We do advise that you purchase suitable personal and travel insurance to cover the risk of cancellation due to ill health or force majeure.  


Damage Deposits:

Certain properties require a Damage Deposit, the amount (outlined on the individual properties) will be due in cash upon arrival and returned on your departure day after inspection of the property. Should any breakage or damage occur during your stay you must inform the house manager and Jampot Villas immediately.
