Casa Castana is a rustic country cottage hidden in the hills of Casares.  This homely holiday getaway is all about nature and down-to-earth living.  The delightful and quirky ambience is relaxing with a simple but endearing kitchen, snug living area and comfortable bedrooms.  The outside area is far reaching with private rural gardens for children to play and areas to relax.  Beyond the garden area and house is a fabulous private outdoor pool surrounded by mature trees with steps and walls made of natural stone.  The location is ideal with the village of Casares only a 10 minute drive away (or a 45 minute walk for the adventurous), an 18 minute drive to the coast and 25 minutes to the village of Gaucin.  Casa Castana is also fantastic for those looking for a Spanish culinary experience with plenty of country restaurants minutes away, including Arroyo Honda, Finca Cortesin, the Forge and Venta Garcia – just to name a few.  This is a perfect retreat for a family of four or a restful and romantic getaway for a couple who love nature.  Pets are welcome but due to the country location this is not recommended for children under ten or the elderly.

Kitchen

The kitchen is quirky and beautifully designed with arched cupboards, wooden doors and beams, colourful tiling and rather endearing with a fridge freezer, 4 ring gas hob and gas oven.  Beside the kitchen is also a dining area with access directly to the gardens.  You have all the essential crockery and appliances you need to cook your meals.

Bedrooms

As you enter the house, there is a double bedroom on the ground floor with French windows leading to a terrace area and gardens beyond.  There is a bathroom with shower, also used as the guest wash room.  Passing this bedroom are some stairs that lead you to the first floor where you will find the second (master) bedroom.  This has a double bed that can also be adapted to twin beds.  There is a dressing room and en-suite bathroom with a bath and over head shower.  This room enjoys views across the countryside, is spacious and comfortable.

Living Area

The living area is accessed through a narrow hallway after passing the ground floor bedroom and the stairs up to the master bedroom.  The living area has plenty of sofas and armchairs in which to relax, a log fire and again access to the outside terrace and gardens. 

Outside Area

Entering the property from the country track there is a car parking area enough for two to three cars.  The gardens then surround the house with plenty of nature, wild life, and mature countryside.  There is a paved terrace area along the front side of the house where you can dine or enjoy a rest in the sun.  This gives access to rooms on the front side of the house.  Beyond are the garden areas and down some natural stone steps is the pool.  A delightful setting and completely private – you won’t want to leave!

This is a wonderful area for those who may be playing golf nearby but at the same time like to walk and enjoy nature at its best when off the golf course.

Extra Details

Casa Castana is located in the countryside of Casares, therefore we do recommend you hire a car during your stay.   Access to the house is along a track, steep in parts, so please be aware.  You can reach the village of Casares within a 10 minute drive and the village of Gaucin is a 26 minute drive away.  Both Casares and Gaucin have traditional tapas bars and delightful restaurants.  There are also plenty of shops to be found along the narrow streets with local produce, plus larger general stores and a pharmacy.  

Casa Castana is perfectly situated in the Andalucian Mountains to enjoy both the cultural and historic cities and the buzz and glamour of the coastal towns.  The mountains provide a sense of peace with wonderful walks, horse riding and many other cultural activities and art filled pleasures.  The coast being so close also allows you to explore and have some fun on the water, take your pick of many Golf courses or indulge in the boutiques and nightlife.  For more details on Casares, Gaucin and the surrounding areas please see the JamPot Villas Explore page or feel free to email. 

Please note: this house is not suitable for the elderly who struggle with steps and steep slopes or children under the age of 10 years old.

Travel

Travelling to Casares

We recommend you fly into Malaga, approximately 91 km from Casares or Gibraltar (a little closer) approximately 48 km .  Check out skyscanner  to compare prices.  You can even fly to Jerez or Seville.  

We do recommend hiring a car while you are out here, the journey from either airport is not hard.  You can take in some of the breathtaking scenery on the way to Casares and the Andalucian Mountains.

Prices, Booking and Cancellation Policies

Price Per Week

Changeover day is on a Saturday.
The property must be vacated by 11am.      
Arrival is at 4pm unless previously agreed with agent.
Minimum stay of 1 week.
All linen is provided including pool towels.  Linen change will be provided on rentals of more than one week.
The cleaner is also available for extra hours during your stay.  She can also baby sit and makes Spanish dishes.  These are to be paid directly to the cleaner in Euros during your stay. Please enquire.



Booking Policy:

30% deposit will be required on booking.
Final 70% must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to arrival.  If your holiday commences in less than 8 weeks or if the total value of your booking is less than £200.00 / €250.00 full payment will be due when you book.

Once your reservation deposit has been received Jampot Villas will send you a booking confirmation which confirms the contract between you and the owners of the house.  If we do not receive the balance by the date outlined (8 weeks prior to arrival), we reserve the right to cancel your booking and levy the cancellation charges that are set out in the 'Cancellation Policy'.


Cancellation Policy:

If for any reason you need to cancel your booking, you must inform Jampot Villas by telephone and by email.  Your cancellation will be confirmed upon receipt of email.  If receipt of cancellation is received more than 8 weeks prior to the start of your rental date then you will forfeit your deposit.  If received within 8 to 2 weeks before the start of your rental date you will forfeit your deposit plus 40% of the total rental price will be charged.  If received within 2 weeks before the start of your rental date then you will forfeit your deposit plus the remainder 70% will be charged (the full amount is payable).

In the unlikely case that JamPot Villas has to cancel a booking we will notify you immediately and try to offer an alternative. In case of non-acceptance of the alternative by the renter, JamPot Villas will reimburse the renter all payments made and the renter loses any rights other than the reimbursement of payments made.

We do advise that you purchase suitable personal and travel insurance to cover the risk of cancellation due to ill health or force majeure.  


Damage Deposits:

Certain properties require a Damage Deposit, the amount (outlined on the individual properties) will be due in cash upon arrival and returned on your departure day after inspection of the property. Should any breakage or damage occur during your stay you must inform the house manager and Jampot Villas immediately.
