Entering through the subtle gates to El Ballena, it is such an enormous surprise to see this grand villa set within its beautiful gardens.  The entrance hall is in the centre of the house and your gaze is instantly taken through this large space and into the living area and onto magnificent secluded gardens and the golf course far beyond.  The outside terraces are a delight and lead down to the large private pool and sculptured lush grounds.  There are numerous rooms downstairs, spacious and restful.  The elegant staircase leads off the main hallway in a semi circular form and up onto the gallery landing.  There are two identical wings each side of this landing, each one giving onto the bedrooms.  The whole house is a joy and has been beautifully designed and furnished in every way.  A stunning and colourful eclectic selection of art can be found throughout.

Living Area

The main hall gives onto the living area by way of four or five steps down.  There are a number of sofas and chairs to relax in while looking out of the large windows onto the well furnished terraces and the striking gardens that seem to go on forever.  This central part of the house is an absolute delight, an impressive area, with colour and light streaming in through the windows and doors.

To one side of the house there is a substantial garden room, with glass curtains opening up completely onto the terraces and again with this fabulous view.  This area also has an open fire place, built in barbeque and dining table with seating for up to ten people.

Another discrete living area is located beside the entrance hall, a snug room with a large television and open fireplace. The house also has wifi throughout, hot and cold air conditioning and ceiling fans.


The kitchen is the central level of three rooms;  the dining room, the kitchen and the den/tv area.  These three rooms all flow into one but are slightly cut off from each other.  The kitchen has all you could possibly need, including a 6 ring plus griddle Smeg hob and a triple Smeg oven,  two dishwashers, an american fridge and a large island in the centre.  The dining room has a beautiful wooden table seating up to eight and leads out onto the garden terraces.


Upstairs, giving off the main landing, are two identical wings, each with extremely generous landings.  The first rooms are twin rooms, perfect for children and decorated accordingly.  Past these rooms there are two double bedrooms.  All bedrooms have their own bathroom, with double basin, bath and shower.  The twin rooms have a single basin and shower.  The double rooms each have a terrace area to admire the views.  Bedrooms at the back of the house have adjoining terraces looking over the pool area and over the grounds.  Each room is individually designed, with elegance and imagination.  The four double rooms have been decorated in different styles:  Californian, Moroccan, Asian and Indian themes. 

Outside Areas

Both the front and the rear of the house have immaculate garden areas, with lush greenery and beautifully kept lawns.  The entrance includes a private driveway and garage / outside parking area, with sculptured trees, plants and a flat lawn.  Behind the house, the grounds are vast and stunning with more perfectly kept surroundings.   Beyond this the Almenara Golf course can just be seen in the distance.  Along the whole of the back of the house is a covered terrace area with a generous choice of relaxing outdoor furniture. Symmetrical steps lead down from here to the secluded pool area.  There are plenty of sun beds and what an absolute delight to lie amongst these surroundings and the turquoise pool.

This villa is located in Sotogrande Alto which is the upper part of Sotogrande.  This is an elegant residential area with beautifully kept villas.  It is quiet and tranquil, most villas enjoying views of the local golf courses or the sea in beyond.  You can play at the local golf courses which include the Almenara and famous Valderrama courses, along with others nearby.  A short drive, approximately 10 minutes from Casa Ballena, you can enjoy the buzzing marina and port of Sotogrande.  Locally you will find all you need, restaurants, bars, large super markets and plenty of shops, but we do recommend you hire a car.
Sotogrande is perfectly situated in Southern Andalucia to enjoy  both the cultural and historic cities, the buzz and glamour of the coastal towns along the costa del sol and the beautiful golden sand beaches along the costa de la luz. Travelling to Sotogrande

We recommend you fly into Gibraltar or Malaga.  Gibraltar is a short distance, only 30 km to Sotogrande.  Hiring a taxi is simple and inexpensive from the border of Gibraltar, alternatively there are many car hire places across the border.  Malaga is approximately 106 km from Sotogrande.  Check out skyscanner  to compare prices.  You can even fly to Jerez or Seville.  

Alternatively we can arrange for a car to pick you up from either airport if you prefer, although we do recommend hiring a car while you are out here, there is so much to explore!

Travelling from Malaga and need a car?  Check out Sixt Car Rental.. Travelling from Gibraltar airport?  Walking across the border to Spain is quick and easy and takes you to the town of La Linea.  For car hire check out, Europcar   la Linea.

Prices, Booking and Cancellation Policies

Price Per Week

This property is currently FOR SALE.  
Please enquire should you be interested in arranging a viewing.

Please note, there is a minimum booking of 2 weeks.
The changeover date is Saturday but may be flexible please enquire.
A weekly change of linen is included.
The price also includes a maid service Monday to Friday 9.30am - 1.30pm.
A damage deposit of €2,500.00 will be required  and returned on your departure should there be no damage to the property.

Booking Policy:

30% deposit will be required on booking.
Final 70% must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to arrival.  If your holiday commences in less than 8 weeks or if the total value of your booking is less than £200.00 / €250.00 full payment will be due when you book.

Once your reservation deposit has been received Jampot Villas will send you a booking confirmation which confirms the contract between you and the owners of the house.  If we do not receive the balance by the date outlined (8 weeks prior to arrival), we reserve the right to cancel your booking and levy the cancellation charges that are set out in the 'Cancellation Policy'.

Cancellation Policy:

If for any reason you need to cancel your booking, you must inform Jampot Villas by telephone and by email.  Your cancellation will be confirmed upon receipt of email.  If receipt of cancellation is received more than 8 weeks prior to the start of your rental date then you will forfeit your deposit.  If received within 8 to 2 weeks before the start of your rental date you will forfeit your deposit plus 40% of the total rental price will be charged.  If received within 2 weeks before the start of your rental date then you will forfeit your deposit plus the remainder 70% will be charged (the full amount is payable).

In the unlikely case that JamPot Villas has to cancel a booking we will notify you immediately and try to offer an alternative. In case of non-acceptance of the alternative by the renter, JamPot Villas will reimburse the renter all payments made and the renter loses any rights other than the reimbursement of payments made.

We do advise that you purchase suitable personal and travel insurance to cover the risk of cancellation due to ill health or force majeure.  

Damage Deposits:

Certain properties require a Damage Deposit, the amount (outlined on the individual properties) will be due in cash upon arrival and returned on your departure day after inspection of the property. Should any breakage or damage occur during your stay you must inform the house manager and Jampot Villas immediately.
